With years of devotion, discipline, and love for the classical arts, Soumya Sukumaran stands as a shining exponent of Mohiniyattam, Kerala’s graceful temple dance tradition. Her journey in the world of classical dance began at a very young age, evolving into a lifelong commitment to preserving and propagating this divine art form.

Trained under esteemed gurus such as Kalamandalam Kavitha Krishnakumar, Sudhana Kumar of Kalakshetra, and Bijulal of Kalarangam, Soumya’s training extends across Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, and Kerala Nadanam. Her artistic expression is both deeply traditional and powerfully relevant, engaging audiences through emotive storytelling, rhythm, and aesthetics.

An artist graded by Doordarshan, and academically qualified with an MA in Bharatanatyam and a diploma in Mohiniyattam, Soumya has performed over 100 stage shows across India, captivating hearts with her precision, devotion, and elegance.

Her most acclaimed production, ‘Panchami’, based on the life and struggle of social reformer Ayyankali, reflects her commitment to art as a medium of social dialogue.

Whether on stage or in the classroom, Soumya continues to inspire the next generation through teaching and performance. Her art is not just a reflection of beauty but also of heritage, discipline, and timeless cultural values.
